Did Jackson Will Paul McCartneythe Beatles Publishing Rights?

Remember the stories last year that Michael Jackson was to will his ownership the Beatle's Song Catalog back to Paul McCartney? Will McCartney receive control over the Beatles song catalog?

Today, Paul McCartney's homepage simply says...

"It's so sad and shocking. I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones. I send my deepest sympathy to his mother and the whole family and to his countless fans all around the world."

It's Especially kind of the Ex-Beatle if you concider how his one-time friend and musical collaborator later stabbed him in his Back-in-the-USSR. Paul often retold the anectdote of how he gave MJ some friendly advice advicing Jackson should invest in a pasion of his like Music Publishing. Paul was sure his buddy and one-time singing partner was joking after Michael squeeled, "One day I'm going to buy your songs Paul".

Only Jackson was not kidding. In the 80s, Michael outbid Paul and shelled out 47.5 Million for the Beatles song catlog

Today, the future of the Beatles Publishing is uncertain after Jackson's death.

In January 2009, The U.K.'s Daily Mirror reported that someone in Jackson's circle had stated, "Michael told his lawyers he was sad he no longer talks to Sir Paul and said he wanted to make things right." Could it be Michael foresaw his premature death later the same year and desired to right his previous mistake?

But now who has the rights to the Beatle's songs? Was Michael able to retain his song catalog despite his collaping finances? Michael sold 50% to Sony but retained the other fifty percent of the lucrative catalog.

Just 4 years ago, The Wall Street Journal reported Michael racked up five hundred Million in debt.

It is possible the shares in Beatle's publishing will go to some creditor.? Or, perhaps back to his former singing partner and collaborator Paul McCartney. Keep those fingers crossed.

Michael's producer Quincy Jones suggested to Michael that he remake the track for his first record "Off the Wall". Michael did not use the song, but thought of McCartney for his next album "Thriller".

They worked together again in 1983, this time for McCartney's "Say Say Say" from the Pipes of Peace Album.

Even beyond death, Jackson continues to provide the oddest stories.
